Environment Reliability

Environment Reliability

As a type of reliability tests, environmental reliability tests are important for confirmation of tolerances of electronic devices and components to environmental stress, in addition, they are most effective ways of finding design and manufacturing problems. When the function of the product is affected, the environmental test is used to find out the cause and take measures to protect the product from the environmental impact in order to maintain the reliability of the product.

Service Scopes

Generally, environment tests can be divided into three categories: “natural exposure test”, “artificial simulation test” and “field operation test”. The environment test we are talking about here refers to the artificial simulated environmental test. The environment reliability tests of LCD (liquid crystal display) we can offer include:

Temperature and Humidity Cycling

Performed to determine the properties of devices used in components and the reliability of non-hermetic packaged devices in humid environments.

Vibration and Shock

Performed to demonstrate the adequacy of the specimen to resist the specified mixed mode excitation without unacceptable degradation of its functional and/or structural performance.

Salt Mist

Performed to evaluate the corrosion resistance of devices in a corrosive saline environment.

High-temperature Operating Life

Performed to determine the reliability of devices under operation at high temperature conditions over an extended period.

Low-temperature Operating Life

Performed to determine the reliability of devices under low temperature conditions over an extended period.

High-temperature Storage Life

Performed to determine the effect on devices of long-term storage at elevated temperatures without any electrical stresses applied.

Low-temperature Storage Life

Performed to determine the effect on devices of long-term storage under low temperature without any electrical stresses applied.

Test Standard

  • MIL-STD-202 (Department of Defense Test Method Standard - Electronic and Wlectrical Component Parts)
  • IEC 60068-2 (International Standard - Basic Environmental Testing Procedures)
  • EIA-364-32 (Thermal Shock (temperature cycling) Test Procedure for Electrical Connectors and Sockets)
  • GB/T 2423.22 (National Standard of China – Environmental Testing)
